رنگ و لباس در سریال سرگذشت ندیمه» پژوهشی است در باب طراحی بصری و نمادشناسی رنگ‌ها در مجموعه تلویزیونی مشهور سرگذشت ندیمه.   این کتاب با نگاهی تخصصی به این پرسش می‌پردازد که چگونه طراحان لباس و صحنه، با بهره‌گیری از دانش رنگ‌شناسی و نمادهای فرهنگی، توانسته‌اند شخصیت‌ها را از طریق پوشششان معرفی کرده و فضای دیستوپیایی حاکم بر داستان را بازآفرینی کنند.

در این اثر، هر یک از رنگ‌های به کار رفته در لباس طبقات مختلف اجتماعی جمهوری گیلیاد (قرمز، آبی، سبز، خاکستری و…) جداگانه بررسی شده و کارکردهای روانشناختی، اجتماعی و دراماتیک آنها واکاوی شده است. قرمز نماد خشونت، باروری و خون، آبی نماد قدرت و وفاداری، سبز نشان‌دهنده خدمتکاری و خانه‌داری، و خاکستری بازتاب‌دهنده سردرگمی و بی‌هویتی است.

این کتاب با تکیه بر اصول سواد بصری و با هدف پرکردن خلأ منابع آموزشی فارسی در حوزه تحلیل تصویر و طراحی لباس، به بررسی یکی از تأثیرگذارترین آثار تصویری سال‌های اخیر پرداخته و می‌کوشد نشان دهد چگونه رنگ‌ها و لباس‌ها می‌توانند روایتگر لایه‌های پنهان داستان و شخصیت‌ها باشند.

Color and Costume in The Handmaid’s Tale Series” is a study in visual design and color symbolism in the renowned TV series The Handmaid’s Tale. This specialized work explores how costume and production designers, utilizing color theory and cultural symbols, have managed to characterize individuals through their attire and recreate the dystopian atmosphere of the story.

In this work, each color used in the attire of the various social classes of the Republic of Gilead (red, blue, green, gray, etc.) is examined separately, and their psychological, social, and dramatic functions are analyzed. Red symbolizes violence, fertility, and blood; blue represents power and loyalty; green signifies servitude and domesticity; and gray reflects confusion and loss of identity.

This book, relying on the principles of visual literacy and with the aim of filling the gap in Persian educational resources in the field of image analysis and costume design, examines one of the most influential visual works of recent years. It seeks to demonstrate how colors and costumes can narrate the hidden layers of a story and its characters.
